Tips, Tricks and Fun Ideas for Healthy Eating and Healthy Teeth

Create a Kids Drawer for Healthy Snacks

Create a kids drawer in your refrigerator (most likely the bottom drawer). Fill it chock full of fruits, vegetables, and any other “anytime” snacks that meet your approval. Then give your kids free reign to help themselves from their drawer, whenever they please. Who knows, maybe they’ll fill themselves up with good stuff before they get to the next party. Added bonus: You don’t have to hear, “What’s for snack?” all afternoon long.

Create a Eating Chart

Give them a chart like an easy little handout and let them fill out what they eat, when they eat it. You can even turn it into a party game. Pass out copies of the sheet, and let the kids find goodies to help fill in their graphs.

Don’t skip meals. This leads to overeating at the next meal.

Drink a tall glass of water before each meal, you will feel fuller and eat less. Plus your body stays Hydrated!

Stay away from sugar-based drinks

Sugary beverages are a huge source of extra calories and carbohydrates.  Make homemade flavored water by adding mint, lemon, cucumber, strawberry, kiwi, or a combination to a pitcher of water in the fridge.

Healthy Smile Tip

Remember a healthy plan is a healthy smile! Try to avoid fast food and eat plenty of crunchy fruits and veggies. Apples, Carrots, Leafy Greens and Whole Grains are great examples to keep teeth healthy!
